What is Gynecology?

Gynecology, in the simplest explanation, means the science of women's diseases. It deals with understanding and then treating problems related to the female reproductive system for any woman from birth to death. It has formed some sections within itself. For example, Adolescent Gynecology deals with problems in children who have just started menstruating, Urogynecology deals with problems related to urinary incontinence, uterine prolapse, bladder and bowel prolapse, and recently Cosmetic Gynecology deals with aesthetic problems of gynecological organs. Gynecology also has its own sub-disciplines such as reproductive endocrinology and infertility, including in vitro fertilization. All of these fall within the scope of gynecology.

Gynecology is a branch of science where routine checks are performed to determine whether the organs of the female reproductive system (ovaries, tubes, uterus, vagina and external genitalia) are normal or not, and if there are any problems in these organs, both diagnosis and treatment are carried out.

One of the areas of interest in gynecology is understanding whether hormones related to the female reproductive system are working regularly and if there is a problem, providing diagnosis and treatment for this problem.

A gynecologist is a person who has completed medical school in the field of gynecology and then completed specialization training in Obstetrics and Gynecology.
